Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), one of the certification/recertification courses offered by NHCPS, is designed to prepare health care professionals for proper intervention of life threatening emergencies, often resulting from cardiac arrest. Course information often relies on content from Basic Life Support courses, often considered a prerequisite for ACLS. Instruction is provided for a variety of specific instances that, when executed properly, can greatly improve survival rates for affected patients.
Multiple algorithms were created to provide medical professionals with a simplified resource that allows for quick navigation in times of emergency. These algorithms divide useful information into individual steps, which are then packaged in a flow chart to increase ease-of-use. ACLS Algorithms available in the ACLS Certification and Recertification Course, the Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Handbook, and can be viewed individually below.
